These scavenging birds of prey may not be the prettiest creatures, but there is something about them that peaks my interest. They are majestic in a very imposing way. My husband took these photos during an extremely foggy morning and they turned out great.
A group of vultures is called a wake, committee, venue, kettle, or volt. The term kettle refers to vultures in flight, while committee, volt, and venue refer to vultures resting in trees.
Wake is reserved for a group of vultures that are feeding.
I like that they chose this gnarly, slightly spooky yet somehow also beautiful hangout. These moments exist all around us...and they are enchanting.
They are so enchanting!! That last photo is spectacular!! I feel the same way about them. They have a way of making you pause. Lovely weekend to you! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteI hope your family is enjoying some quality time together! Are you hosting thanksgiving or going away?
DeleteFabulous photos .. And great info! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have Turkey Vultures near our home and they used to give me the creeps, but then I read up on them and learned that they have large families and stay together, I loved that and I also think it is great they clean up all the poor animals that have passed away.
