Welcome home

Hello, welcome to the hives. They are full of busy bees, doing what they do best; keeping busy as bees.  Observing these insects for just a few days, I am intrigued, impressed, and truly in love.
Meet Susan, Meredith, Lily, Rose, Charlotte, Wendy, Lucy, Violet, Ruth, Lorraine, Iona, etc.  All girls? Yep. Worker bees are female

Where are the boys? Male bees are called drones and their only function is to fertilize the queen. Drones make up a very small percentage of the total colony. In the Autumn, the drones are expelled from the hive by the worker bees. Poor guys,

    1. It's been such an interesting experience. Its hard to know how to care for bees - it's not like a domesticated animal. ya know!
