Staring Herbs from Seed

Normally we purchase potted herbs.  However, last year I purchased some seeds.  After planting them our chickens quickly scratched them up to use the soil for dusting themselves.  We have since designated our back yard for the chickens and do not let them free-range the entire property.

I decided to give them another try this year.  Herb seeds must be soaked for about 10 hrs prior to planting.

I'm really hoping they germinate and grow!

  1. I really think that seeds are the way to go in so many areas of the garden. They are so much cheaper and you can eliminate plants that have been sprayed with pesticides! A win win...can't wait to see them sprout! Nicole xoxo

    1. I hope they grow! We have sage and mint which come back every year. Our oregano and rosemary didn't make it through the chickens wrath. Hopefully we can restore our lush herb garden!

    1. I wouldn't have known any better accept the seed packets each state the amount of time for soaking the seeds. Some of the herb seeds are sooooo small!
