Saving an organic cotton sheet from becoming trash before its' time.

A large rip in this sheet - perhaps from too many washes? I bought these organic cotton sheets on sale a few years ago.  They get softer (and thinner) with every wash.  They are my son's favorite though, so something had to be done.

First I hand stitched the rip together.

Then just covered the rip with a patch of fabric.  I suppose you could do both sides, but this is the fitted sheet, so the underside won't show.

Make the bed as normal, and no one will be the wiser.  I might not be able to save the world, but I certainly can save a sheet.  *Hopefully my sewing job holds up in the wash*

  2. Well done for rescuing that fantastic bed set! They are indeed too gorgeous to throw away - and the room is so fab! I want to know more about that wall tree, those fun pillows...I'm inspired! Chrissie x

    1. I painted the tree when we first moved in, when my son was 1. The bedding was a bit later when he outgrew a toddler bed. The owl hanging on the tree is made by my grandfather from Popsicle sticks. The Yummy pillows are made by Heidi Kenney and can be found at Kid Robot, she also has other fabulous art on her website. http://www.mypapercrane.com/

  3. I love the acorn pattern on the sheet! Probably will not hold up particularly well in the wash, but it can be used to make something smaller...given new life.
