Laundry Soap

This recipe makes about 2.5 gallons of laundry soap.

I think I've used about 5 different recipes for laundry soap now. I prefer the liquid to the powder. I'm not 100% happy with this one only because the consistency is a bit off-putting but it cleans our clothes. I make all of our cleaning products using mostly vinegar, baking soda, essential oils and Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap. Crunchy Betty's website is a great source for cleaning recipes. I particularly like her version of soft scrub. I use if for cleaning our bathroom and our stove top. It works so well.

Do you make your own laundry soap? If so, I'd love to hear your recipe.

  1. We have made our own laundry soap, but in powder form. We use the same ingredients you listed. I will have to try the liquid!

    1. We have an HE washer so it uses limited water. The powder never fully dissolved so that is why I am on the search for a good liquid. This one works. All the ones I've tried have very different consistencies. This one separates a litte so you have to shake it before each use. No big deal though.
