Buzz Away is our favorite commercially sold bug repellent. It works great and smells great too. But I do like to make my own products when the process is simple and the cost is our favor.
Insect Repellent -
Wash out an old spray bottle that holds at least 6 oz
Fill almost to the top with Witch Hazel
Add about 1 tbsp of Aloe gel
Add bug repellent essential oils - I added about 10 drops of the citronella and 6 drops each of peppermint, tea tree, and lemongrass to mine.
Shake bottle before each use - spray onto exposed skin
